New Poll: America Hates the GOP
From MSNBC's "First Thoughts," writing about the new NBC/WSJ poll:
While impressions of Obama’s professional performance are mixed, the same can’t be said of the Republican Party at large. Put simply, the GOP’s brand is still a mess. According to the poll, just 25% have a positive opinion of the party (compared with 42% for the Dem Party), which ties the GOP's low-water mark in the survey and which is a worse score than it ever had during the Bush presidency.
(Honest question: Can the party still blame Bush for their problems if their numbers have gotten lower since he left the scene?)
In addition, only 23% approve of the way in which congressional Republicans have handled health care (compared with 43% for Obama). And looking ahead to the 2010 midterms, 46% prefer a Democratic-controlled Congress, versus 38% who want a GOP-controlled Congress. Last month, Dems held a 43%-40% advantage.
I wonder why!

You're right. Two heads are better than one. Especially since here we have a Left Head and a Right Head.
Those two Heads joined together to conduct this poll, and these were their results.
Regarding cons excessive zealousness with history and the bible, seems to me they have a father fixation. The Founding fathers, the father in heaven, and their own fatherhood dominates their thinking.
Cons particularly like telling others what to do. Whether it's how to be morally upright, don't do drugs, homosexuality, the list is long. But they carp incessantly about freedom, although your father in heaven condoned slavery, and many founding fathers had slaves.
The incongruity of their beliefs and the resulting cognitive dissonance it creates, is truly spectacular, and explains why cons behave the way they do. And why they are dangerous.

Cons are very difficult to argue with and convince that they are wrong.
However, it seems that people in the middle are starting to pay attention and to realize that the Cons' arbitrary black and white approach to all of life's problems is not necessarily the best way to go.

They just don't want you to push a sexual agenda to their children in school. They just don't want you to tell them how much they can earn. They just don't want you to dictate their healthcare insurance. They just don't want you to redistribute their hard earned wealth. These are but A FEW expamples of libs TELLING EVERYONE WHAT TO DO. Well, let's start with Terry Schiavo where the Cons tried to pass a law to keep her husband from pulling the plug on a woman who was being kept alive as a virtual vegetable. Is that "family values"? Whose family?
A man who had another woman already. I don't fault him for that but in this case the parents wanted to take care of her. Only a lib can fault a parent who is trying to save their child. This case was for the life of one person. The examples I give you affect everyone. Try to give me a real example.

Gloom Spreads on Economy, but GOP Doesn't Gain

Americans are growing increasingly pessimistic about the economy after a mild upswing of attitudes in September. But Republicans haven't been able to profit politically from the economic gloom, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.
A dark national view of how everybody in Washington is conducting the public's business appears to be preventing Republicans from benefiting from concerns about the direction of the country or the Democrat-led government's handling of the economy, as the minority party often does.
In fact, disapproval of the Republican Party actually has ticked upward, along with the public's general pessimism. Asked which political party should control Congress after next year's midterm elections, Democrats now hold a clear edge over the GOP, 46% to 38%, a month after the Republicans were nearly as popular. In September, the Democratic edge was 43% to 40%.
Republicans are doing the smart thing. They're moving to the right. They were starting to look like blue dog democrats. There is a movement that will not be stopped. NY and NJ are solid blue states but the governors are fighting for their political lives. Dispite what the handpicked polls say democrats do not like the direction Obama is taking them. Keep an eye on the politicians that vote for Obama care. They might not be around after their next election.
I guess we'll find out more about al that on Tuesday.

Anyone tired of the usual bag of GOP mythology? Everyone of these statements are inversions - the truth lies in the ability to de-spin these GOP mytholies.
You have probably even promoted the trickle down mythology too.
Democrats are a sorry lot indeed, but they at least have the morality to address a substantial list of things in desperate need of attention - things that have a direct and positive impact on working class people.
All the GOP is interested in is regaining power. Power which is used to enrich the elite which is to the benefit of ONLY the elite.
GOP only cares about the deficit when they are not increasing it.
The "GOP does not care" list is very long ... but I will take it all back the minute they do something which helps average people.
